Bowen technique is a perfect complement to floating. Bowen is a soft-tissue technique that uses the nervous system connections between the body and brain to stop pain patterns. Sessions consist of targeted, gentle soft tissue manipulation on fascia, muscle, nerves, and tendons to activate the body’s reflexive relaxation response. Treatment on muscle groups is followed by brief pauses, which enable the body to focus on the treatment to benefit from its effects.
Bowen therapy can be thought of as a nervous system reboot, where our central nervous system shifts from its stress response into our “rest, digest, & repair” mode, to stimulate re-balancing and healing.
Bowen sessions last 30-45 minutes during which the patient is fully clothed and usually laying down. Bowen is a safe and effective treatment for many physical concerns, including:
- Acute and chronic back pain
- Shoulder pain, including frozen shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
- Knee pain
- Muscular tension
- Fibromyalgia pain
- Digestive concerns
