If you’ve ever been told to “just slow down” when your brain is racing with ideas, to-do lists, and big dreams… you know how impossible that can feel. I live in a world of constant motion, planning the upcoming season’s flower farm expansion, working in a fast paced world of real estate lending, building brands, nurturing clients, and dreaming up what’s next. My mind doesn’t really do “off.”
That’s why floating has become such a powerful part of my self-care, and it’s a big personal focus for me in 2026; not as an escape from my life, but a way to expand and support it.
As I step into 2026, I’m committed to making floating a non negotiable habit. A reset. A creative tool and as I dive more into my practice, I see it evolving into my secret weapon for all round success.
A Busy Mind Needs a Different Kind of Rest
For people who are wired for creativity and entrepreneurship, rest doesn’t always come easily. Even when I stop moving, my thoughts keep sprinting. Floating gives me something I don’t get anywhere else: true quiet.
What I’m learning is this means not just quiet in the room, quiet in my nervous system.
In the tank, the constant input drops away. No phone. No noise. No expectations. And what’s left is space. Space for my mind to settle, for my breathing to deepen, and for my body to finally switch out of “go mode.”
Where Creativity Actually Shows Up
What surprised me most about floating is how much it supports my creativity, not by forcing ideas, but by giving them room to land.
For my flower business, I often come out of a float with clearer visions for: garden layouts color palettes and seasonal designs branding ideas and photo shoot concepts how I want people to feel when they experience my flowers
For my mortgage and lending work, it helps in a totally different way: organizing complex thoughts, seeing client scenarios more clearly mapping out next steps for myself, my clients and the teams I support.
It’s like my brain finally gets to tidy up all the open tabs.
We talk a lot about self-care as bubble baths and cozy nights in, and those are lovely but floating hits different. It feels like maintenance for my nervous system. When your work involves decision-making, emotional conversation, problem-solving and constant switching between roles your body can stay in low-level stress without you realizing it. Floating helps bring me back into regulation; calmer, steadier, and more grounded.
Building a Life by Design Includes How We Rest
One of my biggest personal values is building a life by design, not by default. That doesn’t just mean career goals or business plans, it also means choosing how I support my energy, my health, and my creativity.
Making floating a regular habit in 2026 is part of that design. It’s me choosing to embrace clarity over chaos, sustainability over burnout, intentional rest instead of waiting until I’m exhausted. Because growth doesn’t just happen in the hustle. It happens in the quiet moments where your mind can breathe and your ideas can reconnect.
My Invitation for the New Year
If you’re someone with a busy mind, a creative heart, or a life that asks a lot from you. I really believe floating is worth trying. Not because you need to “fix” yourself, but because you deserve space to hear your own thoughts again.
For me, floating isn’t about doing nothing.
It’s about creating space for what matters to rise to the surface, and that feels like a pretty beautiful way to begin a new year.
