From our Float Ambassador, Monica <3
In a world that’s always rushing, stillness feels rare. My days are full — working out, studying, leading, and building a life I’m proud of. And while I love everything I have going on in my life, I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes, real transformation happens when I slow down and make space to just be.
My initial reason for trying floatation therapy was to ease some physical discomfort. I was dealing with fibroids, and with them came bloating, pelvic pressure, and persistent hip and back pain. I was looking for relief. What I didn’t expect was the emotional release, the mental clarity, and the deep sense of reconnection that came with it.
Some days, I float to recover physically. Other days, I float because I need a mental reset or an emotional check-in. Every time, I come out feeling lighter, not just in my body, but in my heart. It feels like I’ve had hours of deep rest, even if it’s only been 60 minutes.
Floatation has become a reset button for me — a way to return to myself when life starts to feel too loud.
The float tank is quiet, warm, and weightless; everything softens. The noise in my mind fades. I can hear myself again.
Like meditation, fitness, or learning something new, floatation works best as a practice. The more consistent I am, the deeper it goes. Each float shows me something: where I’m holding tension, what thoughts I need to release, what next step feels right. It’s subtle, but powerful.
If something in you is curious about floating, follow that. You don’t need to be “good” at relaxing; you just have to be open. Let your body lead. Let your mind unravel a little. There’s something deeply healing in giving yourself that kind of space.
And a quick note for anyone with braids or dreadlocks — yes, your hair will get wet. The float centre has great showers and aftercare setups. I used to wear a swim cap, but now I just rinse, relax with a tea, and take my time. It’s part of the ritual.
Floatation has reminded me that rest isn’t a reward, it’s a necessity. I’m proud to be part of a community that values the power of slowing down.
If you’re thinking of trying it or want to know more, feel free to reach out. I’d love to share my experience and help you get started.
Here’s to finding yourself in the stillness.
Lovingly,
Monica
