Rituals

“I’m feeling a bit off, I don’t know why.”

“Have you meditated yet today?”

“No… that’s definitely it.”

I’m very fortunate to have a roommate who ‘gets it’ and gets me.  Thank you, Tara!

I operate best on a routine.  My alarm is set for 7:00am each morning and when it goes off, I start the day with a morning meditation before getting out of bed.  Most days.

Some mornings, I get lazy with that routine and roll over to catch a few more minutes of snoozy time, put my meditation off and suddenly it’s mid-afternoon and I’m feeling unsettled, distracted and unfocused.  It’s palpable.

Because I spend a lot of my time working from home, it is easy for me to step away from the computer for a few moments and breathe.  I created a tiny space that holds a collection things that are important to me me, and to give thanks to a few of the BIG GUYS (Ganesha, I’m looking at you buddy!).  When I find myself feeling a bit off, I throw a pillow on the floor in front of my little table, light a candle and give thanks for all the good shit going on in my life.  And there is a lot of it.  There is something about this space that, to me, makes it all mean something, ya know?

Find time each day to spend a few moments in silence, by yourself.  Be it 5 minutes or 25 minutes, create a daily ritual dedicated to yourself to breathe and connect.  Gather a few of your favourite things that mean something to you – be it photos, crystals, a guitar pick, whatever! – and give thanks for these things.  Focus on abundance, dissolve lack.

Endless love & gratitude.
