I’ve always had an interest in gastrointestinal (GI) disorders as a dietitian because a healthy digestive system and a healthy gut is key to overall wellness. Furthermore, illnesses and symptoms related to the digestive system can be debilitating in so many different areas in one’s life.

low FODMAP foods

In Canada, 10-15% of people are living with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), making it one of the main digestive disorders in Canada. There are even more people living with undiagnosed digestive symptoms such as abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, constipation, etc.

New research is supporting a dietary plan that may be helpful with IBS symptoms and for those who are experiencing any of the above symptoms, yet have been tested negative for celiac disease. If you are living with discomfort and feel like you’ve tried everything, contact me for a nutrition consultation and we can discuss whether a FODMAP elimination diet may be the right approach for you.

The end goal would be to ensure your long-term dietary plan is varied, healthy and easy to follow for lifelong symptom relief.
